If you are visiting or live in Northwestern Michigan, you owe it to yourself to visit Interlochen Center for the Arts. Located just a short drive from Traverse City, six hours from Chicago and four hours from Detroit, Interlochen is situated on a picturesque 1200 acre wooded campus located among two beautiful lakes, Duck Lake and Green Lake. The campus itself offers overnight accommodations for visitors in several different styles from modern to rustic. Camping is available in near by Interlochen State Park.
So what’s it all about? Interlochen is a year round center for the arts. Annually it hosts over 250,000 visitors and sponsors over 600 presentations. Whether your interests are music, theater, dance, visual arts, films, or creative writing, you will find something that piques your interest. During the summer it hosts a student summer camp program that draws over 2000 students from around the world. It is the home to a boarding high school program emphasizing the arts and college-prep. It is home to two public radio stations. Many famous names are among its 85,000 alumni.
